Essence is the measure of a character’s vital energy, and can be used to create powerful magic effects.
Mechanically, all characters start with 3 essence. Essence may be increased at character creation at a cost of 10 per point. After character creation, increasing essence costs five times the new number.
Essence determines your character’s maximum manna pool (five times your essence score).
Essence may be expended to produce a wide variety of effects including but not limited to:
1) refilling your manna pool
2) sealing an enchantment effect
3) gaining a Master Die for your character’s next magic pool
Remember, essence is a measure of vital spirit. Should you spend or otherwise lose your final point of essence your character will die (any and all of the very very few exceptions will be made at the time thereof).
